Extra-curricular activities

Maraylya Public School offers a range of extra-curricular activities to enhance student's engagement during their time at school.

Dance groups

Each year, we run 3 dance groups, including a senior group (Year 4 to Year 6), a junior group (Year 1 to Year 3) and a Kindergarten group.

Dance groups have the opportunity to perform at a range of festivals and shows throughout the year to showcase their talent. These may include, but are not limited to, the Hawkesbury Show, the Hills Orange Blossom Festival, Synergy Dance Festival, Education Week performance at Riverside Shopping Centre, Hawkesbury Dance Festival, our Biennial School Concert and Wakakirri.

Senior students in Year 5 and Year 6 may be selected to attend the prestigious Public Education Dance Off! Camp.

Djembe drumming

We also offer for students in Year 4 to Year 6 to be a part of our djembe drumming group. Younger students are considered in special circumstances.

Our drumming group may perform at events including, but not limited to, the Hawkesbury Show, the Hawkesbury Music Festival, Education Week performances and the Hills Orange Blossom Festival.

Choir

Our choir runs every 2 years in conjunction with the Hawkesbury Music Festival. Students from Year 2 to Year 6 are invited to participate and perform at the Hawkesbury Music Festival and during Education Week performances.

Music

All students participate in weekly recorder lessons, linked with our karate recorder program. Students can earn karate belts (and later beads) for their recorders, at their own pace, as they advance from a beginner to intermediate and advanced.

There is an opportunity for students to perform as part of the recorder consort at both our presentation evening and at education week performances.

Drama

All students participate in class drama activities and perform twice each year at our fortnightly assembly. Senior students in Year 5 and Year 6 have been involved in the Lights Up Drama Festival and the State Drama Festival.
